Association of Skill Training Providers (ASTP) is a registered non-government, not-for-profit society, formed as a national skill alliance of training service provider companies. We are a unique, credible and enabling platform to bring up and help resolve issues which concern the entire sector or sub-sectors engaged in skill building and training, as members together.
India has the capacity to create 500 million certified-skilled technicians by the year 2022, but this cannot be achieved through the conventional education framework. The National Policy on Skill Development was announced keeping this ambition in mind.
Today, India with 65% of its youth in the working age group. If ever there is a way to reap this demographic advantage, it should be through skill development of the youth so that they add not only to their personal growth, but to the country’s economic growth as well. We at ASTP delve into adding value to our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision and thus approach all skill training activities keeping in mind student’s perspective first. We as a collective, promote high quality skill training and employment to India’s underprivileged. We firmly believe that the Skill India initiative flagged by Government of India will empower the youth of the country with skill sets which will make them more employable and productive in their work environment.
ASTP is working in collaboration with NSDC and has consultative status at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to push for ethical standards in skilling, to provide feedback on youth interests and aspirations on skill programs and to reach out to skill hundreds of youth across India.
Our members are operational across the length and breadth of the nation as key stakeholders for the implementation of the National Skill Mission through numerous schemes like PMKVY, DDUGKY, NULM (Central & State Skill Missions) among others. Our members collectively meet more than 75% of the total target mandated by National Skill Development Corporation. Members of ASTP are among most crucial partners for the government’s flagship scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra.
Our Board consists some of the biggest skill training service providers in the country who are deeply committed to the purpose of nation building through the Skill India Mission. They comprise organizations set up by senior corporate professionals, retired civil servants, NGO experts, chartered accountants, academicians and numerous other people working in the development sector.
Landmark progress in the skill ecosystem has been visible since 2014, due to contributions of the skills training companies and other stakeholders but there are many challenges persisting. This necessitated a collective approach by training companies to ensure a fair play and equitable skills training industry that adheres to the highest quality standards. Given the backdrop, several prominent and large skills training companies across the country, put together an initiative to form an association that would protect and further the interests of the skills training providers in the fast-evolving skills training industry in India.
